Grading System

The FSD uses a Standards-Based Grading System for grades K-4 and a letter-based system for grades 5-8.

Letter-Based Report Card (5-8)
At Franklin Special School District, we believe in clear, consistent grading to help families understand how students are progressing. Students receive letter grades for each subject, based on the following scale:

  • A = 93–100 (Excellent)

  • B = 86–92 (Good)

  • C = 76–85 (Satisfactory)

  • D = 70–75 (Needs Improvement)

  • F = 0–69 (Failing)

Some middle school students take high school-level classes, such as Algebra I, Geometry, or foreign languages. These courses follow a slightly different grading scale used by Williamson County Schools:

  • A = 90–100

  • B = 80–89

  • C = 70–79

  • D = 60–69

  • F = 0–59

  • I = Incomplete (must be completed in the next grading period)
