The 2022 FSSD summer food service program kicks off Wednesday, June 1, and runs through Thursday, June 30. The FSSD Food and Culinary Services department will offer free breakfast and/or lunch at community sites and by delivery to designated bus stop locations.
For the 13th consecutive year, the Franklin Special School District is partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to offer a summer food service program to all children. Just as learning does not end when school lets out, neither does a child’s need for good nutrition. This program is open to all children 18 and under - regardless of income – as a way to assist families with their food budget during the summer. As the saying goes, “Come one, come all!”
The 2022 summer food service program kicks off Wednesday, June 1, and runs through Thursday, June 30. The FSSD Food and Culinary Services department will offer free breakfast and/or lunch at community sites and by delivery to designated bus stop locations.
Two distribution sites will be open throughout the summer. Each Friday, the sites will distribute 7 breakfasts and 7 lunches for each child (18 or under). The locations are:
- Poplar Grove (back of school), 2959 Del Rio Pike - 11:00-12:30
- Liberty Elementary, 600 Liberty Pike - 11:00-12:30
In addition, if families are unable to pick up at the drive-through sites, meals will be delivered daily to the following bus stops, Mondays – Fridays:
Community partners and off-site serving locations include FSSD Summer Morning and Afternoon Care (MAC), Franklin/Williamson County Boys & Girls Club, Franklin Housing Authority, The PATH Project, Young Scholars Institute, and FSSD Summer Learning Camp. Visitors to the FSSD’s Story Bus program will also be offered a meal during its summer schedule.
The program’s goal is to significantly reduce child hunger over the summer so there are no forms to fill out or qualifications to meet. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
